Fascinated by Chopin’s Preludes, Basque composer Ramon Lazkano conceived a set of 19 Preludes in 2020, imagined as “antagonistic mirrors,” to be subtly woven into the cycle by his Polish predecessor. Winner of the 2010 Chopin Competition, Yulianna Avdeeva joins the soloists of the Ravel Academy in this sonic mosaic, where instrumental styles and eras collide to better reveal themselves.
