Pablo Plaza

Pablo Plaza is a Spanish tenor who was trained in Madrid by Roberto Mallorquín and Mario Valdivielso. His education encompasses voice, piano, and violin, as well as classical and contemporary dance, architecture, and topography. Although his interests were diverse, singing ultimately became his true vocation.

Pablo Plaza later moved to Geneva to continue his vocal studies with Clémence Tilquin, collaborating with institutions such as the Grand Théâtre de Genève and the Opéra de Lausanne. Pablo Plaza subsequently joined the Opera Studio Biel/Bienne for the 2024–2025 season under the vocal guidance of Marcus Niedermeyr.

His operatic roles include Florival in Grétry’s L’amant jaloux, Sancho in Boismortier’s Don Quichotte chez la duchesse, A Singer in Erlanger’s La sorcière, Peter Quint in Britten’s The Turn of the Screw in Geneva, Albazar/Narciso in Rossini’s Il turco in Italia at the Opéra de Lausanne, Pasquin in Bizet’s Le Docteur Miracle, Heinrich in Ethel Smyth’s Der Wald, Beppe in Donizetti’s Rita in Biel, and Count Almaviva in Rossini’s Il barbiere di Siviglia at the Opéra National de Bordeaux.

During the 2025–2026 season, he also worked with the Opéra de Paris, participating in productions including Nixon in China. Alongside his operatic engagements, Pablo Plaza has appeared in several concert performances throughout 2025 and 2026 at the Château de Ferrand, the Auditorium de Renens, and the Haute École de Musique de Lausanne (HEMU). A finalist and prizewinner in several international competitions, he was awarded Third Prize at the Béziers Competition in 2023 and First Prize at the International Cloe Elmo Competition in 2025.

Pablo Plaza is currently based in Lausanne, where he works with Gerardo Garciacano and Marina Viotti. His upcoming engagements include Rossini’s Petite Messe solennelle in Bern in June 2026 and a contract with Opera Ballet Vlaanderen for the 2026–2027 season.
