Yosif Slavov

Yosif Slavov is a Bulgarian baritone who has rapidly gained international recognition for his exceptional talent. He began his musical journey at the age of 7, studying guitar and solfeggio, before pursuing classical singing at the National Music Academy “Prof. Pancho Vladigerov,” where he earned his bachelor’s degree in opera performance.

He has appeared in a wide range of operatic and concert performances. His early stage appearances include the role of Ben in G. C. Menotti’s The Telephone at the State Opera Plovdiv in 2019, under the direction of Paolo Gianni Cei. Yosif Slavov has since taken on prominent roles such as Schaunard and Marcello in Puccini’s La Bohème, Enrico (Lucia di Lammermoor), Valentin (Faust), Sharpless (Madama Butterfly), Germont (La Traviata), Eugene Onegin (Eugene Onegin), Zurga (Les pêcheurs de perles), and Moralès (Carmen), performing on stages including the Sofia Opera House and State Opera Stara Zagora.

His talent has been further recognized through participation in masterclasses with some of the world’s most renowned opera figures, including Krassimira Stoyanova (2019), Raina Kabaivanska (2020), and Francisco Araiza (2023), with whom Yosif Slavov performed in gala concerts to great acclaim. In 2020, he was awarded the opportunity to study for a year at the Istituto Superiore di Studi Musicali “O. Vecchi – A. Tonelli” in Modena, Italy, as part of Raina Kabaivanska’s master program.

In 2022, Yosif Slavov was a finalist at the 1st International Opera Competition in Batumi, Georgia, and in 2023 he was invited to participate in the prestigious Operalia competition, reaching the quarterfinal stage in its 30th edition in South Africa.

He made his house debut at Opéra National de Bordeaux in 2024 in the role of Giorgio Germont, and later that year debuted in Germany as Eugene Onegin at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater Hamburg.

Yosif Slavov become a member of the Opernstudio of the Bayerische Staatsoper in Munich for the 2024/2025 season, where his roles include El Dancaïre (Carmen), Il Commissario (Madama Butterfly), one of the Six Flemish Deputies (Don Carlo), Wächter (Die Liebe der Danae), and Vier Edelknaben (Lohengrin), as well as multiple concerts with the Opernstudio across Germany.
