Màrius Bernadó

Màrius Bernadó is a senior lecturer in music history at the University of Lleida (Catalonia, Spain), where he heads the SCT Musicology Laboratory.

Having studied philosophy and musicology at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona and liturgy at the Facultat de Teologia de Catalunya, his research has focused on medieval and early modern Western music. In particular, he has worked on liturgical books and the plainchant repertoire of the 15th and 16th centuries, on music publishing in the Iberian Peninsula, on chamber music of the 18th and 19th centuries, as well as on the figure of the pianist Ricardo Viñes, to whom he has devoted several books, articles and exhibitions.

He is director of the DeMusica series and general editor of Iberian Early Music Studies, published by Edition Reichenberger (Kassel, Germany), and is responsible for other editorial projects focusing on music publishing, essays and musicological research. He is the author or editor of several books and critical editions of music.

He was appointed curator of the official commemoration of the 150th anniversary of the birth of Ricardo Viñes (1875–1943) and, since 2026, has been director of the Ricardo Viñes Chair at the University of Lleida.
