Pierre Bleuse
Pierre Bleuse is the Music Director of the Ensemble intercontemporain and the Odense Symphony Orchestra, which he has led since 2021. He is also the Artistic Director of the Pablo Casals Festival in Prades.
He opens his 2025/2026 season at the helm of the Ensemble intercontemporain, conducting it at the prestigious BBC Proms in the summer of 2025, as well as at the Ravel Festival in Saint-Jean-de-Luz and for the season opening at the Philharmonie de Paris. He will make his debut with renowned orchestras such as the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra, the NDR Elbphilharmonie Orchester in Hamburg, the SWR Symphonieorchester in Stuttgart alongside his long-time collaborator Sol Gabetta, as well as the Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra in New Zealand. He will return to the São Paulo State Symphony Orchestra for two subscription weeks and will make a return to the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, the Singapore Symphony Orchestra, and make his debut with the Netherlands Philharmonic Orchestra at the legendary Concertgebouw in Amsterdam.
A highly sought-after French conductor, he collaborates regularly with many of the world’s leading ensembles, including the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra in Amsterdam, BBC Symphony Orchestra, Orchestre de Paris, Orchestre National de France, Tokyo Symphony Orchestra, Singapore Symphony Orchestra, and the radio symphony orchestras of Hanover (NDR), Leipzig (MDR), and Frankfurt (HR). He has also worked with the Tonkünstler Orchestra in Vienna, the Orchestre de la Suisse Romande, the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic, the Spanish National Orchestra, the Castilla y León Symphony Orchestra in Valladolid, the Polish National Radio Symphony Orchestra in Katowice, the Orchestre National du Capitole de Toulouse, the Orchestre National de Lyon, and the symphony orchestras of Bern and Basel, as well as the Brussels Philharmonic, the Belgian National Orchestra, and the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra of Liège, among many other European ensembles.
A prominent figure in contemporary music, he conducted Hector Parra’s opera Orgia at the Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona in 2024. In 2025, he opens the centenary celebrations of Pierre Boulez’s birth at the Philharmonie de Paris with the Ensemble intercontemporain, conducting a landmark performance of his masterpiece Répons.
He regularly works with major international soloists such as Joyce DiDonato, Karita Mattila, Patricia Kopatchinskaja, Pierre-Laurent Aimard, Sol Gabetta, Bertrand Chamayou, Emmanuel Pahud, and Renaud and Gautier Capuçon.
He has participated in numerous recordings, including a widely acclaimed album dedicated to György Ligeti, recorded with the Ensemble intercontemporain, which was awarded a Diapason d’Or of the Year in 2025.
Pierre Bleuse studied conducting under Jorma Panula in Finland and Laurent Gay at the Haute École de Musique de Genève.
