Korean clarinetist Steven Taeyun Han, born on December 1, 2005, is currently in the first year of his Master’s degree at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris (CNSMDP), where he studies with Pascal Moraguès.
He began his musical education in South Korea at Yewon School and later at the Korean National Institute for the Gifted in Arts (KNIGA), where he studied with Jerry Chae, among others. Steven Taeyun Han quickly stood out in several national competitions before continuing his musical journey in Europe. After moving to Paris in 2018, he joined the Conservatoire à Rayonnement Régional de Paris in the class of Florent Héau, where he completed the specialised cycle and the CPES program.
A prizewinner of several international competitions, he won First Prize at the Saverio Mercadante Clarinet Competition (Italy, 2019) and received awards at the Picardie Competition (First Prize unanimously in 2019 and another prize in 2021). Admitted to the CNSMDP at the age of 16, Steven Taeyun Han won Third Prize at the Sava Dimitrov International Competition in 2023 and First Prize in 2025. He has also taken part in major international competitions, including Cluj, Lisbon, and the ARD Competition in Munich.
Alongside his solo career, Steven Taeyun Han has developed extensive orchestral experience with ensembles such as the Orchestre de Paris and the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France. He has performed major symphonic works including Mahler’s Symphony No. 8, Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9, Shostakovich’s Symphony No. 15, and Weinberg’s Symphony No. 21. In 2026, he also took part in the world premiere of No! by Chaya Czernowin.
