Passionate about chamber music, Venezuelan cellist Maria-Andrea Mendoza performs with renowned artists such as Renaud Capuçon, François Salque, and Alexandra Conunova on some of Europe’s leading stages and festivals, including La Roque d’Anthéron, Lavaux Classic, the Aix-en-Provence Festival, Grafenegg, Schloss Elmau, the Tannay Music Festival, the Menton Music Festival, and La Grange au Lac.

In 2023, Maria-Andrea Mendoza was invited to perform with the Quatuor Ébène at the Berlin Philharmonie, Stuttgart’s Mozart-Saal, and the Vienna Konzerthaus.

Maria-Andrea Mendoza began studying the cello at the age of six through El Sistema, where she had the opportunity to work with renowned conductors such as Gustavo Dudamel and Sir Simon Rattle. Her musical journey later brought her to Europe to continue her studies with François Salque at the Lausanne University of Music, where she earned two Master’s degrees and received the Jacques-Henri Plomb Prize in recognition of her outstanding achievements.

Maria-Andrea Mendoza has also benefited from the guidance of Frans Helmerson, Natalia Gutman, Daniel Grosgurin, Jakob Koranyi, and Marc Coppey, among others. Her interest in contemporary music has led her to collaborate with composers such as William Blank, Eric Tanguy, and Heinz Holliger.

In 2019, Maria-Andrea Mendoza won the position of Principal Cello with the Metz National Orchestra, a role she held for two years before moving to Paris. Since then, she has regularly performed as Principal Cello with prestigious ensembles including the Radio France Philharmonic Orchestra, the Paris Opera Orchestra, and the Orchestre de Chambre de Paris.

Maria-Andrea Mendoza is a founding member of the Paris-based Fidelio Quartet.
