Mihai Trestian
Born in Moldavia, Mihai Trestian won First Prize in both the Stepan Neaga National Competition and the Barbu Lautare International Competition, before becoming a member of the Tele Radio Chisinau Folclor Orchestra.
Following a creative residency at Royaumont Abbey, he took part in Jean-Marc Padovani’s Chants du Monde tours in 2000/2001.
In 2002, composer Gerardo Jerez Lecam invited him to join his quartet. Since then, he has worked regularly with him.
Since 2004, he has lived in France, where he has collaborated with the Daniel Givone ensemble, Sébastien Ginieux, Iacob Macciuca, the Ensemble Intercontemporain, the Ars Nova ensemble and others. He is also developing personal projects such as Ciocan and Altfel.
Since meeting Amit Weisberger, he has developed a passion for Klezmer music, and is a member of Yiddishé fantazyé (an early Klezmer trio) and the Beigale Orkestra brass band.
