Lyric revelation of the year 2021 at the Victoires de la musique classique awards, soprano Marie-Laure Garnier began her artistic career in Guyana, then at the CRR de Paris. In 2009, she joined Malcolm Walker’s lyric singing class at the CNSMD in Paris. After a brilliant Prix de Chant, she obtained a Diplôme d’Artiste Interprète and a chamber music Master.

Marie-Laure Garnier, named Révélation lyrique ADAMI in 2013, is the winner of several competitions, including the Cziffra Foundation in 2015. At the 2017 Nadia et Lili Boulanger Competition, the soprano won the Mélodie Française prize alongside pianist Célia Oneto Bensaid, as well as the Grand Prix at the first edition of the prestigious Voix des Outremer Competition in 2019 or the Syndicat de la Critique’s Musical Revelation prize in 2022. She was also named Lauréate de l’Académie Orsay, Royaumont and Lauréate HSBC du Festival lyrique d’Aix-en-Provence in 2018.

This highly promising artist performs in recital on prestigious stages such as the Théâtre des Champs Elysées, the Philharmonie de Paris, the Capitole de Toulouse, the Opéra de Versailles, the Théâtre de l’Athénée, the Festival de La Chaise Dieu, the Festival Pablo Casals, and more. Abroad, she has performed at the Oxford Lieder Festival, the Auditorium Reina Sofia in Madrid, Salle Bourgie in Montreal, Wigmore Hall in London, the Orangerie du Manoir de Skebo in Sweden, the Schumann Hauss in Germany, the Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow and the National Theatre of Saint-Dominique.

During her studies, Marie-Laure Garnier distinguished herself in the colorful role of La Cantatrice in Philippe Boesmans’ Reigen at the Conservatoire National de Paris. And it was at Toulouse’s Théâtre du Capitole that she made her debut in the roles of Gerhilde (Die Walküre, Wagner – conducted by Claus Peter-Flor), Ygraine (Ariane et Barbe bleue, Dukas – conducted by Pascal Rophé) and the Fifth Maid (Elektra, Strauss – conducted by Frank Beermann). She recently appeared as Junon (Platée, Rameau) at the Opéra Royal du Château de Versailles.

On disc, the soprano was discovered with “Le Promenoir des amants” (Collection Académie Orsay-Royaumont), and Olivier Greif’s “Les Chants de l’âme”, released on the B.Records label; the artist’s vocal qualities were warmly praised by the critics.

The new season promises to be a rich one. She will be appearing at the Institut Français in London, the Opéra d’Avignon, Nouveaux Horizons (Aix-en-Provence), the Philharmonie de Paris, the Festival de Saint-Denis and the Musée des Armées aux Invalides. She will also appear as the Chœur Féminin in Britten’s Le Viol de Lucrèce, conducted by Marius Stieghorst, at the Capitole de Toulouse, and as Bess in a concert version of Gershwin’s Porgy and Bess, conducted by Salvatore Caputo, at the Opéra de Bordeaux.
