Etienne Rousseau-Plotto
Étienne Rousseau-Plotto, of French-Russian origin and Basque by adoption, is a historian, musicologist, theologian, and titular organist of the listed organ of Saint-André de Bayonne.
Having completed his teaching career at high schools in Biarritz and Saint-Jean-de-Luz (Lycée Ravel), he is a lecturer and member of the boards of directors of the Friends of the Bonnat Museum and the Friends of the Basque Museum, as well as the Bayonne Society of Sciences, Letters, and Arts.
He is the author of numerous articles. He has published Stravinsky à Biarritz (Séguier 2001, reprinted by Atlantica in 2016), Ravel, portraits basques (Séguier 2004, expanded reprint by Atlantica in 2016) and Doux Pays, le roman de Léon Bonnat (Atlantica 2022).
He is currently working on a biography of the composer and organist Ermend Bonnal.
In 2016 and 2017, he curated exhibitions dedicated to the Luzian painter Gabriel Deluc, a hero of the Great War and the dedicatee of the Forlane from Le Tombeau de Couperin.
A new expanded edition of Ravel, portraits basques is scheduled for publication in 2026.
