Moira Cauzzo

Moira Cauzzo was born in 2003 in Sorengo, Switzerland, and began studying violin at the age of two with Anna Modesti at the Conservatorio della Svizzera Italiana in Lugano. In 2016 she entered the school’s PreCollege division, and one year later she was admitted to study with Marco Rizzi at the Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst Mannheim. In 2022 she joined the class of Marco Rizzi and Sergey Teslya at Escuela Superior de Música Reina Sofía in Madrid, where she is currently pursuing her Bachelor’s degree with a scholarship from the Albéniz Foundation.

She is a prizewinner of several international competitions, including the First Absolute Prize at the XVIII International Andrea Postacchini Competition in Fermo, won at the age of seven, and First Prize with honorable mention at the Swiss Youth Music Competition in 2012 and 2016.

At the age of nine, she made her debut as soloist with the Orchestra Giovanile della Svizzera Italiana under Daniele Giorgi, performing Beethoven’s Romance in F major, Op. 50. Since then she has appeared with orchestras including the North Caucasus Philharmonic Orchestra “V.I. Safonov,” Oviedo Filarmonía, United Soloists Orchestra and the Baden-Baden Philharmonic Orchestra.

She has performed in Switzerland, Italy, the United States, Slovenia and Spain, both as soloist and chamber musician. At the Reina Sofía School she has collaborated with Ensemble Correspondances and participated in orchestral projects under conductors including Andrés Orozco-Estrada and András Schiff.

Recent engagements include performances at Carnegie Hall and Palau de la Música Catalana, as well as participation in the Gstaad Menuhin Festival, Kronberg Academy Festival and Encuentros de Música y Academia de Santander.

Moira is currently a member of the Tchaikovsky Trio and performs on a 1907 Leandro Bisiach violin kindly loaned by a private source.
