Acclaimed for her expressiveness and the originality of her projects, Sandrine Chatron is a pioneering and multifaceted harpist.
Since 2009 she has held the position of principal harpist with the Nederlands Philharmonisch Orkest, and in 2024 became professor of harp at the
Conservatorium van Amsterdam, having held the same position at the Haute École de Musique de Genève from 2018 to 2024.
A graduate of the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris with teachers Gérard Devos and Marie-Claire Jamet , Sandrine Chatron is a laureate of the Fondation Banque Populaire, and the Fondation Tissier Grandpierre.
She passionately champions a wide-ranging repertoire, from classical music on historical harps to complex contemporary compositions. She is a member of the Trio Polycordes (Mandoline, Harp, and Guitar) which has premiered numerous new works. Frequently a guest at prestigious festivals, she has collaborated in chamber music with artists such as the Elias Quartet, Gordan Nikolitch, Svetlin Roussev, Ophélie Gaillard, and Juliette Hurel.
As a soloist, she has performed at the Présences Radio France Festival, the Théâtre des Champs-Elysées, the Musée d’Orsay and the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, notably with the Nederlands Kamerorkest and La Grande Ecurie-La Chambre du Roy. Sandrine Chatron has premiered numerous works, by Pierre Boulez, Krystof Maratka, Philippe Schoeller, Frédérick Martin, Luis Naon, Alexandros Markeas, Robin De Raaff, Fabien Cali, Benoît Menut, and Thomas Bordalejo.
Sandrine Chatron has released several critically acclaimed recordings, notably Mozart’s Concerto for Flute and Harp with François Lazarevitch and “Les musiciens de Saint-Julien”, as well as “André Caplet and His Contemporaries”, “Le Salon de musique de Marie Antoinette” on a single-action harp, and “A British Promenade”, and has an extensive discography of chamber music and orchestral works.
She has played with the Ensemble Intercontemporain, the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, l’Orchestre National de France, the Berliner Philharmoniker, the Lucerne Festival Orchestra, Le Concert de la Loge, Le Concert Spirituel, and has performed under the baton of conductors such as Claudio Abbado, Riccardo Muti, Georges Prêtre, Sir Simon Rattle, Pierre Boulez, Daniele Gatti, Lorenzo Viotti, and Marc Albrecht.
