Alexandra Bidi

Renowned for her powerful musical energy and the richness of her sound palette, French harpist Alexandra Bidi has been Principal Harp of the Orchestre de Paris since January 2026.

After winning several competitions for young performers, including the Léopold Bellan Competition, the Martine Géliot Competition, the Collègium 21 Competition (2019), and the Velenje International Harp Competition (2023), Alexandra Bidi was awarded Second Prize at the prestigious ARD International Music Competition (Germany, 2023) at the age of 21. She also received the prize for Best Performance of the commissioned contemporary work by Édith Canat de Chizy.

Following her solo debuts with the Munich Chamber Orchestra and the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra in 2023, Alexandra Bidi has since appeared as a soloist with the SWR Symphony Orchestra, the Badische Philharmonie Pforzheim, the Orchestre de l’Opéra national de Lorraine, the Dutch orchestra Ciconia Consort, and others.

Selected for the Euroradio Top Young Performers programme of the European Broadcasting Union (EBU), which highlights the most promising talents in classical music, Alexandra Bidi has had recordings of her performances broadcast on radio stations in France, Portugal, Italy, the United Kingdom, Germany, Latvia, Croatia, and the Netherlands.

A passionate chamber musician, Alexandra Bidi has shared the stage with Magali Mosnier, Guillaume Paoletti, François Salque, Iris Scialom, and Krzysztof Michalski, with whom she recorded an album in December 2025 for the Italian label Da Vinci Classics.

Through collaborations with ensembles such as Les Siècles, the Orchestre de chambre de Paris, the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Orchestre National de Mulhouse, the Shanghai Opera House Orchestra, and the La Monnaie Symphony Orchestra, Alexandra Bidi has performed in renowned venues in France and abroad under conductors including Marin Alsop, Simone Young, Kirill Karabits, Michael Schønwandt, and Alain Altinoglu.

Equally at ease on major international stages and in more intimate venues, churches, and outdoor settings, Alexandra Bidi particularly values the opportunity to connect and share with audiences after her solo performances and chamber music concerts. She is regularly invited to give masterclasses in France, Germany, Denmark, Spain, the Netherlands, and Belgium.

Born in 2002 to non-musician parents, Alexandra Bidi nevertheless began her musical journey at an early age. She learned to read music alongside the alphabet, started piano at the age of six, and took up the harp at seven with Elena Gorna in Italy. She continued her studies in Spain with Beatriz Millán and Zoraida Avila, and later at the Paris Regional Conservatory with Ghislaine Petit Volta. In 2020, Alexandra Bidi joined the classes of Isabelle Moretti and Geneviève Létang at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris, where she earned both her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees with highest honours. She is currently pursuing the Artist Diploma programme there while also studying Applied Mathematics at Paris Dauphine University.

In 2021, at the age of 19, following her First Prize at the Martine Géliot Competition, Alexandra Bidi recorded the album Bach to Paris, bringing together works by French and German composers who are particularly close to her heart.

Alexandra Bidi is a laureate of the Fondation Banque Populaire and is supported by the Fondation Safran and Adami.
