Liron Kaniel

Israeli violist Liron Kaniel is currently pursuing her bachelor’s degree with Lawrence Power at Zurich University of the Arts, previously studied at the Buchmann-Mehta School of Music in Tel Aviv and she is a graduate of the Jerusalem music Center programs.

From a young age she had numerous performances playing as a chamber musician and soloist in different countries, including Germany, Austria, USA, Hungary, Slovakia, Russia, France and more.

Over the years, Liron Kaniel has attended masterclasses and performed for renowned musicians including: Tabea Zimmermann, Nobuko Imai, Tatjana Masurenko, Lars Anders Tomter, Hariolf Schlichtig, Hartmut Rohde, Thomas Riebl, Gilad Karni, “Fine Arts Quartet”, “Jerusalem Quartet” among others.

Moreover, she attended masterclasses and played under the baton of conductors such as: Zubin Mehta, Lahav Shani, Andrea Battistoni, Vasily Petrenko, Alan Gilbert, Krzysztof Chorzelski and others.

Liron Kaniel has performed at international music festivals such as: The Perlman Music Program, the International Mendelssohn Festival, the Saline Royale Academy, ISA of the MDW, the 8th Bratislava International Music Festival, the Red Sea Chamber Music Festival, “Ein Karem Music Festival”, Allegro Vivo Festival, Keshet Eilon, The David Goldman Programme, Huberman program and others.

Liron Kaniel regularly plays in chamber ensembles and served as principal viola of the Young Israel Philharmonic Orchestra.

She is a scholarship holder of the “America-Israel Cultural Foundation”, “Ronen Foundation”, and was renowned as an outstanding young musician of the Ministry of Education in Israel, and of the IDF.

Liron Kaniel plays on a 1780 Gagliano viola, kindly loaned to her from the collection of Yehuda Zisapel.
