Flutist Aliya Vodovozova, a sought-after soloist, chamber musician, and orchestral musician, has already won numerous awards at competitions. These include second prize and the Audience Award at the ARD Competition, second prize at the Carl Nielsen International Chamber Music Competition in Copenhagen, and first prize at the Ton & Erklärung competition, which she won with her ensemble Pacific Quintet.

Born in Ukraine and raised in Turkey, Aliya received her first music lessons from her mother, playing piano and flute. She then moved to Moscow to attend the Gnessin Music School, before being admitted to the prestigious Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatory in 2010. In 2015, she came to Berlin to pursue her master’s degree with Benoit Fromanger at the Hanns Eisler University of Music. During the 2017/18 season, Aliya performed with the Dresden Philharmonic.

Aliya has performed at some of the world’s most renowned festivals, including the Verbier Festival (Switzerland), the Pacific Music Festival (Japan), the Zermatt Music Festival and Academie (Switzerland), the Santander Encuentro (Spain), and the Mecklenburg-Vorpommern Festival (Germany).

In October 2020, Aliya participated in the French festival “Nouveaux Horizons” in Aix-en-Provence, an initiative by renowned violinist Renaud Capuçon to support young musicians and composers. Aliya’s playing has already been recorded on several CDs. She recorded P. I. Tchaikovsky’s “Children’s Album, Op. 39” with the Hermitage Chamber Orchestra and J. S. Bach’s 2nd Flute Suite with the Russian National Orchestra. In 2020, she was part of the Deutsche Grammophon CD project, after being invited by violinist Daniel Hope for his television series “Hope@Home.”

In 2023, she was selected for a residency at the Villecroze Music Academy, where she focused on the music of Sofia Gubaidulina.
