THE RAVEL ACADEMY
Every summer in Saint-Jean-de-Luz, the Ravel Academy gathers promising young musicians and composers from all over the world to learn from a college of prestigious teaching artists.
With more than 50 years of experience accompanying generations of young talent at the start of their careers—many of whom are now at the top of their fields, such as Bertrand Chamayou, Renaud Capuçon, Henri Demarquette, Stéphanie d’Oustrac, and Sarah Nemtanu, the Academy is at the heart of the new Festival Ravel vision. Inspired by the composer of Boléro, it remains attuned to the present while resolutely looking toward the future.
PROMOTING YOUNG TALENT
With the support of the Nouvelle-Aquitaine Region, the Ravel Academy is pursuing its vocation as an incubator for tomorrow’s great artists, and aims to become a key contributor to its local community.
To achieve this, the Academy promotes its most promising young musicians through year-round co-produced concerts across Nouvelle-Aquitaine. These concerts, tailor-made in partnership with local authorities, community organizations and festivals, aim to provide greater support for emerging musical talent while bringing cultural opportunities to underserved areas of the region. By reaching out to audiences with limited access to cultural offerings, especially young people, these rising artists help cultivate the next generation of audiences while making cultural more accessible for all.
